To be or not to be 'Charlie', that is the question

I am not Charlie - because I don't have the willingness nor the guts (nor the talent) to make fun of everything.
But I am Charlie - because I also believe that being able to make fun of everything might be a brilliant way of spending life, taking away its seriousness.

I am not Charlie - because I don't feel like stirring a lethal angry 'wolf' that might hurt me or my family or my nation. I still value our lives more.
But I am Charlie - because I understand what they stood for. To live life with humor and to be free to say what we think without fearing death.

I am not Charlie - because I know some subjects have to be treated with more precaution. To mock people's feelings/beliefs might not take their lives away but hurt their hearts.
But I am Charlie - because I also believe that we should all be stronger and take what other people say, or make fun about, with lightness. We should learn always something good out of everything and we should value ourselves more...and keep going.

I am not Charlie - because I've been already hurt, I've already felt angry and I've already felt hatred against other people.
But I am Charlie - because, no matter what, I never killed anyone for what they thought or said about me or about my beliefs. They were free to go.

I am not Charlie - because I've also hurt other people for what they thought and said.
But I am Charlie - because no one killed me yet and I feel free to be or not to be whatever I want. Thank you.

I am not Charlie - because I know our western culture has loads of failures at the present moment, and it will always have; and I know this western culture made terrible things in the past.
But I am Charlie - because we are an old culture that learned with those terrible things and grew more compassionate, and because we are still trying, indefinitely in time, to improve our society.

I am not Charlie - because Art should not have in its concept total freedom only because its Art.
But I am Charlie - because if Art is not foisted to you and you only see it if you want, and if that Art only makes you think but does not take your life away... Art, is Art.  And as it's said: earth without art would be only 'eh'.

I am not Charlie - because no one is Charlie.
I am Charlie - because I like to believe we are free to be everything, without fear.
